Based on the Silverado 1500 Z71 pickup, the defining feature of the Silverado Special Ops concept is it naval-inspired camo exterior finish. Developed more than 100 years ago, the tri-tone blue “Razzle Dazzle” finish uses a distinctive array of varying color lines and shapes that are intended to help disguise a ship’s speed, direction, and profile to enemy eyes. While no mention is made of how the Razzle Dazzle cloaking counteracts modern sonar, radar, and optics, it still looks pretty stealthy in the chrome-infested environs of the 2015 SEMA show.
-Built as a tribute to the “go-anywhere, do-anything commitment of special-forces teams,” the concept utilizes parts from the Chevrolet accessories catalog as well as unique components. Wheel flares shroud 20-inch aluminum wheels with off-road tires, and a bed-mounted sport bar carries an array of LED lights and imparts an Avalanche-ish profile. An underbody shield and custom rocker guards take a protective stance against off-road damage, and storage solutions from GearON fill out the bed, which has optional factory spray in bedliner.
- -The exterior Razzle Dazzle camo paint scheme makes an inside appearance on the instrument panel and armrests, while bright Ejector Orange is used for the door pulls and glovebox handle. The seats are trimmed with waterproof covers with embroidered Special Ops logo in the headrests, and the floors get waterproof liners. Unspecified new brake, air intake, and exhaust kits arrive courtesy of the Chevrolet Performance parts catalog.
