In a move that could be interpreted as taking weight savings to an extreme—or, alternately, as a move downmarket with a special-edition model to be sold exclusively at Walmart—Lexus has unveiled a unique IS sedan made entirely of cardboard.
-Although Lexus touts the project as “pushing the boundaries of design, technology, and craftsmanship,” we would point out that this is not the first-ever cardboard car:

That said, the Lexus effort, which is made up of 1700 pieces of cardboard, does contain a number of unique elements. The cardboard car is full-size, and includes an interior. It also has working headlights, wheels that roll, and opening doors. Fitted with an electric motor, it can even be driven (although not in the rain).
