Oh golly, it’s a superheated limited-edition WRX STI that we can’t get here in the States. Subie-heads are already lamenting. Here’s what’s breaking their hearts: 323 horsepower, up from the 305 we see from the STI here in the U.S. Subaru claims the S207 “aims to be the world’s most enjoyable vehicle, providing a feel-good experience to all those who travel in it regardless of road conditions and enhancing driver skill.”

That’s a bit of an awkward sentence. But what, beyond the extra horsepower, makes the S207 so enjoyable? An 11:1 steering rack (the stock unit is 13:1), Bilstein’s adjustable DampMatic II front suspension, and drilled rotors clamped by Brembo monoblock six-piston front calipers and four-pot rear calipers. Active torque vectoring shunts the S207’s extra juice fore and aft, depending on where it’s needed.

If the 400 S207s built aren’t exclusive enough for you, 200 of the cars can be equipped with the NBR Challenge Package, featuring a carbon-fiber rear spoiler and a badge commemorating Subaru’s class victory at the 2015 Nürburgring 24 Hours. 100 of the NBR cars will be offered in Sunrise Yellow paint, as part of the “NBR Challenge Package Yellow Edition.” Kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species. The other 300 cars will be offered in WR Blue Pearl, Crystal White Pearl, and Crystal Black Silica. Japanese-market buyers have until March 6, 2016, to get their orders in. The rest of you? Well, the rest of you can just pine.
