No one is mistaking Ram’s ProMaster City for anything but what it is: A thinly rebadged Fiat that’s a competent city hauler and little more. And while the ProMaster City can’t go underwater, it can support people who do. Yep—at the 2015 SEMA show, Fiat-Chrysler is showing a ProMaster City outfitted as a diving support vehicle, and while few if any actual dive masters will ultimately find themselves owners of FCA’s smallest van, at least showgoers in Las Vegas will get a taste for the ProMaster City’s adaptability.
-First up, the DiveMaster van wears an appropriately deep-sea-invoking paint job, with a faded white-to-blue scheme from rocker panel to beltline. After that, it’s a sweet black paint cap covering the rear doors, hood, roof, and flowing into the tinted side windows. According to FCA, this paint scheme mimics a “scuba diver’s deep sea perspective.” Sure! The door mirrors feature the recognizable “diver down” flag motif—a red background with a diagonal white slash—and there is the echo of a diver’s silhouette on the hood and rear glass.
-More pertinent to the ProMaster City’s commercial-van origins is the DiveMaster’s fully stocked rear compartment, which houses special shelving and a spray-in bedliner material for optimal dive-support use. Custom racks can hold scuba gear, while LED cargo lights help nighttime divers see what they’re putting into the cargo hold.

Like we said, this is less about showing scuba fans what can be done to the ProMaster City and more about showing everybody the van’s versatility. If you’re in the market for a commercial van that’s decent on gas and easy to park, substitute those diving bits for plumbers’ equipment or electricians’ gear. See? You needn’t dive deep to see the ProMaster City’s inherent usefulness.
